Join us for an exciting Walking Tour of Cerro de La Estrella, a fascinating archeological gem nestled in the southern region of Mexico City, just 40 minutes from the historic center.

Cerro de La Estrella offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Mexico City from the summit of this extinct volcano, especially on clear days. Established as a national park in 1938, it originally spanned 1,100 hectares. However, urban expansion has now reduced it to less than 200 hectares. The site derives its name from the colonial-era Hacienda de la Estrella, which is situated on the hillside.
Culture: Aztec.

Historical Period: 900 – 1521 AD. The slopes of Cerro de La Estrella have been inhabited since ancient times, serving as a significant site for the New Fire ceremonies, which were believed to rejuvenate the sun at the end of its cycle. These monumental events occurred every 52 years, with notable ceremonies held in 1351, 1403, 1455, and 1507. The fall of Tenochtitlan sadly marked the end of this tradition.
