Join us for an unforgettable adventure at the magnificent Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario.'

This extraordinary biosphere reserve, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serves as a vital over-wintering habitat for millions of monarch butterflies. Nestled in the stunning Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, the reserve spans a breathtaking 56,000 hectares in the pine-oak forests straddling the borders of Michoacán and Mexico State, approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City. Each year, from October to March, countless butterflies flock to this sanctuary, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. The reserve is dedicated to preserving both the butterfly species and their natural habitat.

Prepare for a scenic uphill trek lasting about 1 to 1.5 hours, during which we’ll take our time acclimatizing to the altitude (3,000 meters) while soaking in the breathtaking views of the forest and the fluttering Monarch Butterflies. For those who prefer a more leisurely journey, horseback riding options are available.

To ensure we have the right transportation arranged for our group, please confirm your payment 5 to 7 days prior to the event date.

The total cost for this unique experience is 1,150 Mexican Pesos, which includes private group transportation, a skilled driver, a knowledgeable coordinator, and your entry to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

We will be picking up participants at the intersection of Etiopia and Angel de la Independencia.
