Join us for an unforgettable journey through Mixquic and Tlahuac!
Nestled in Mexico City, Mixquic is one of the 21 Barrios Magicos and is renowned for its vibrant Day of the Dead festivities. Each year, the cemetery comes alive with flickering candlelight and colorful floral arrangements as locals honor the souls of their departed loved ones during the 'Alumbrada' on November 2nd.
While the cemetery is best experienced at night, a visit to Mixquic offers enchantment year-round. Explore the stunning monastery, adorned with a beautiful rose garden and fascinating archaeological artifacts, all set against the backdrop of a vast cemetery. As we stroll through the charming narrow streets, marvel at the vibrant murals—many celebrating Día de Muertos—and take in the picturesque canals and chinampas, reminiscent of Xochimilco. Don't miss the chance to indulge in the delicious local cuisine!
Nearby, the town of Tlahuac awaits with its own treasures, including another remarkable monastery, a lively market, more enchanting canals and chinampas, and a captivating regional museum featuring three exquisite pre-Hispanic ovens shaped like masks (please note, visits depend on opening hours).
Both towns are conveniently located within Mexico City, approximately 2 to 2.5 hours south of the historic city center, depending on traffic conditions.
The cost for this experience is 950 pesos, which includes transportation and guided tours.
Advance payment is required, which can be made in cash at any 7-Eleven store or through a cash deposit at any Banamex bank. International payments can also be processed via Wise.
To reserve your spot or for payment details, please reach out via WhatsApp at 55.13.08.37.32, Lidia Herrera.
