Join us for an enchanting journey through the vibrant Cempasúchil / Marigold flower market and the scenic Chinampas of Xochimilco, located just outside Mexico City. This unique event is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 8:00 AM.

The Cempasúchil flower, known for its striking beauty, plays a vital role in the Day of the Dead celebrations, adorning altars and cemeteries alike. Unlike the bustling boat ride ports of Xochimilco, our destination offers a serene escape into the heart of nature, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Our adventure begins with a guided stroll lasting approximately 2.5 hours through a captivating labyrinth of Chinampas, channels, and quaint bridges. Along the way, we will delve into the significance of the Cempasúchil flower during Día de Muertos, explore its various types, and learn about the ancient Chinampas system, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. The term Cempasúchil comes from Nahuatl, where sempôwal translates to twenty and xôchitl means flower, together signifying the 'flower of the twenty petals'.

Following our immersive walk, we will visit a traditional flower market and nearby nurseries, where you can capture breathtaking photos amid the stunning Cempasúchil blooms. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to savor delicious local cuisine at one of the many food stalls in the area. The Chinampas and flower market are conveniently located within Mexico City limits, approximately 1.5 hours south of the historic center, depending on traffic.

The cost for this unforgettable experience is 650 pesos, which covers round-trip transportation for our small group and guided tours led by a certified bilingual guide. We will be exploring from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
