Join us for an immersive experience at the enchanting Cempasúchil / Marigold flower market and the historic Chinampas, the ancient floating gardens nestled in the outskirts of Xochimilco, one of Mexico City’s vibrant boroughs.

The radiant Cempasúchil flower plays a central role in Día de Muertos celebrations, adorning altars and cemeteries with its vibrant hues. Please note that this event takes you away from the usual tourist spots near the trajinera boat rides, offering a unique and unspoiled destination!

Our adventure begins with a scenic guided stroll lasting approximately 2.5 hours through the intricate network of Chinampas, channels, and quaint bridges where these stunning Marigold flowers flourish. Throughout the walk, our knowledgeable guide will share insights into the cultural significance of the Cempasúchil flower during Día de Muertos, its various types, and the fascinating history of the Chinampas, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. The term 'Cempasúchil' is derived from Nahuatl, where 'sempôwal' means twenty and 'xôchitl' means flower, translating to 'flower with twenty petals'. Expect to be surrounded by vibrant agricultural landscapes and the kaleidoscope of colors that these flowers bring to the area.

After our enlightening walk, we will visit a traditional flower market and nearby nurseries, where you can find even more Cempasúchil flowers and capture incredible photographs. For those interested, we can also indulge in delicious local cuisine at one of the many traditional food stalls available nearby.
The Chinampas and flower market are conveniently located within Mexico City limits, approximately 1.5 hours south of the historic city center, depending on traffic conditions.

The cost for this unforgettable experience is 650 pesos, which includes round-trip transportation for our small group and guided tours led by a certified bilingual guide. The event will take place from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
