Join us for an unforgettable day tour as we explore the mesmerizing Piedra Herrada Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary and the charming town of Valle de Bravo. This tour includes a delightful boat ride on the beautiful lake.

Located in the State of Mexico, the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is a magnificent World Heritage Site that encompasses the over-wintering habitats of the monarch butterfly population. Nestled within the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt pine-oak forests ecoregion, this reserve is situated 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City. Every year, millions of butterflies flock to the sanctuary, occupying only a fraction of the reserve's vast 56,000 hectares from October to March. The reserve's mission is not only to protect the butterfly species but also to preserve its habitat.

During this tour, we will embark on a rewarding uphill walk of approximately 1.5 hours to reach the heart of the butterfly colony. Please note that the location of the colony varies each night as they seek ideal conditions for survival. The walk will take us to an elevation of 3000 to 3500 meters (9800 to 11450 feet), but we will take it easy to acclimate to the altitude.

To ensure your comfort during the tour, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes or walking shoes and dressing in warm clothes with multiple layers. Don't forget to bring along some sweet and salty snacks as well as water to keep you energized throughout the day.
