Join us on an exciting adventure to explore a traditional Nochebuena / Poinsettia flower market, viveros (green houses), and the enchanting Chinampas in Xochimilco, Mexico City. Discover the rich history and beauty of the Poinsettia flower, once cultivated by the Aztecs for traditional medicine and now adorning Christmas celebrations worldwide. Known as Cuetlaxóchitl in Nahuatl, this flower holds deep cultural significance.

Please note that this hidden gem is not located near the popular boat trips by trajinera in Xochimilco, making it a unique and off-the-beaten-track experience.

Our adventure begins with a captivating guided walk lasting approximately 1.5 hours, immersing you in the breathtaking scenery of Chinampas and Channels, where the Nochebuena / Poinsettia flowers flourish. Learn about the historical and modern significance of these flowers, as well as the fascinating history of the Chinampas and Channels, which date back to prehispanic times. Marvel at the vibrant colors of the flowers surrounding us as we traverse agricultural fields and charming bridges.

Following the walk, we will visit a traditional flower market and nearby plant nurseries, offering even more opportunities to admire the stunning Poinsettia flowers and capture unforgettable photos. For the food enthusiasts, there are numerous traditional food stalls where you can savor delicious local cuisine.

The Chinampas, Viveros, and Flower market are conveniently located within the Mexico City limits, in the outskirts of Xochimilco. The journey from the historical city center of Mexico City takes approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
