kennethkymaJuly 2007 There are quite a number of dialects in Chinese. It really depends on which type of Chinese do you want to learn and what level do you want to achieve. And you may also notice that the writing system of Chinese is very different from the western one, so you may have to pay extra effort if you want to read and write in Chinese. If you are really interested in learning Chinese, I would recommend you to start with the standard Chinese, so called "Mandarin" or "Putonghua", which is commonly spoken over the whole of China. The romanized pinyin system may help you to speak the language in a more easy way. |
