MuYangDecember 2022 Here it is important to know who we are asking for something. Similar to the German language, in the Slovak language we are using ”familiar” and ”polite” way, to adress to someone. familiar = addressing friends, family members, younger people. polite = respectful address to unknown persons, older persons. However, this may vary different in each microenvironment. For example, I address my parents in a ”familiar” way, and my grandparents in a ”polite” way. Familiar: Please, give me some water, I’m thirsty. Prosím ťa, daj mi vodu, mám smäd. Polite: Please, enter your phone number! Prosím Vás, zadajte vaše telefónne číslo. In Slovak, if someone thanks us for our kindness, we also answer it with the word ”Prosím” or confirm to that person that we really did what we did with pleasure. Ďakujem! (Thank you!) Prosím! (You are welcome!) |
