Originally in Russian history there was a very old song, but after the revolution this song was kinda gone.

Currently in Russian culture there is no native 'Happy birthday songs' except posted upper (derived from animation 'Cheburashka') and form of a child game devoted  to celebrate this occasion called 'Round loaf' or К а р а в а й in russian.



The game is:

The number of people celebrating this occasion is forming a 'round dance' - holding each other hands (х о р о в о д ) around celebrating boy/girl and singing song. Depending on the context of the words in the song people ether moving their hand up or down as well as increasing or decreasing radius of the round:



К а к н а (celebrating boy/girl name) и м е н и н ы

И с п е к л и м ы к а р а в а й !

В о т т а к о й в ы ш и н ы (put hands in the air), в о т т а к о й н и ж и н ы (put hands down as much as you can),

В о т т а к о й ш и р и н ы (increase round), в о т т а к о й у ж и н ы (decrease round as much as possible close to the celebrating boy/girl).

К а р а в а й , к а р а в а й , к о г о х о ч е ш ь в ы б и р а й !
