where to start...

God day fellows of the internet.

Jeg heter Eugene. I am a student at the University of Oregon in the U.S. I study history and have fallen in love with Scandinavia and the Vikings. I found a master's programme at the University i Oslo in this field. I signed up here to learn how to speak Norwegian and also will be taking an intoductory Norwegian class in the fall 2009 and I'm very excited. I would love to become fluent and after watching a few videos on here over the last week I feel that I have picked up some basics I also have been on the Sons of Norway website where there are more tools.

I'm looking for friends in our 21st century that can help me along my quest. I  have a dream of some day obtaining citizenship in the grand country of Norway and assimilating into the culture. I would like to know what people are like there and your various outlooks on the world.

Some of my hobbies include snowboarding (we have two good mountains in Oregon), skateboarding, reading, music (listening), and trying to make sense of some of the larger things in life (as most of us probalby are).  I don't really know what else to write about at the moment and feel a little nervous because I've never collaborated with others on the internet except for people I know in the physical world and videogames.
