if you are thanking someone after eating you say (takk fyrir mig) we say ”thank you for me” not ”thank you for the food” straight after eating but if some time has passed you can say thank you for the food yesterday ”takk fyrir matinn í gær”, thank you for cooking is ”takk fyrir að elda”
