Hindi: interjection of calling

Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi: interjection of calling (note: this thread is a multilingual thread and and includes Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi)

I would like some opinions about usage of these words. I feel these interjections of calling that I am making reference to in this thread are for close friends only and I do not use them. In the same way I would never get the attention of someone by saying, "hey!". I would say something like, "excuse me, sir/madam". Either way, I would like to get some feedback on these words.

1) In your opinion can the Punjabi word ਓਏ / ਉਏ / اوئے be understood in Urdu/Hindi or no?

Note: I understand if Hindi speakers grow up around Punjabi speaking people, that they would understand some Punjabi words. When I ask if a word of one language is understood by a speaker of another language, I mean it in general terms. For example, if you are an Urdu speaking person and you heard the word اوئے , would you understand this word (used as an interjection of calling)?

Additional note: I understand an Urdu speaker would understand the Hindi word ارے , but I am wanting to know if they would understand the Punjabi word اوئے in your opinion. I also understand that these words may belong to more than one langauge, so when I say a word is a Hindi word, I am just speaking in general terms. It doesn't mean I think it can't be a Hindi word and an Urdu word.

2) In your opinion can the Hindi word अरे / ارے be understood by Punjabi speakers?

Feel free to ad-lib on this thread and give your opinion about the proper usage of these words or share anything you might find helpful in relation to this thread.

Shukriya for your help
