French for Russian - English to help us!

Hi!

My name is Vitaly and I am from Moscow. I've heard that people come to this site to learn and practice their foreign languages. I began studying French a few months ago, so I decided to give this site a try...

As, I suppose, many of you, I don't know what to begin with. Perhaps it is a good idea to talk to someone, who has the same hobbies as I have, that is:

1) Digital Photography.

2) Travel. I like travelling very much. Nowadays, I enjoy east-asian countries most of all. Apparently, I can advise you on some basics about Russia, though I'm not very fond of its history or culture, so you may know even more than I do on that :))

3) Music. I like all sorts of good music with, perhaps, a slight bias towards Electronic genres.

4) Oh, sure, Language Learning. I enjoy browsing through different sites, materials, techniques, etc. But I wish I had patience to study from A to Z at least one of them :)))

OK, these are just a few ideas, but not the only topics we could speak about.

It would also be interesting to speak  with other French-learners, to share the materials, tips, etc. For instance, I like finding commonalities or quite the contrary - striking differences between French and English or French and Russian. It helps me rememberring many things a lot :) Also, I like audio-courses of French, 'cause I spend a lot of time in traffic jams :)

So... I would be glad to start speaking French with you. In return, I can help you with your Russian and, to some extent, with your English.

Thank you for writing me!

Ok, let me raise the first question here. I would like to know what is the most 'French' way of asking how to say somthething in a language, for example:

- 'How do you say it in French' ? Or

- 'How to say in French ...'

I'm curious, how a common French person  would normally ask this sort of question.

For example, in Russian, we would normally say:

- 'К а к     с к а з а т ь (...) п о -ф р а н ц у з с к и (...)?', where 'К а к '='How', 'с к а з а т ь '='to Say', 'п о -ф р а н ц у з с к и '='in French'. Note, that we normally ask this question in present simple tense, without any personal pronouns (no 'I say', 'you say', etc). Also note that the word or phrase we are asking about ('...') can go either in the middle of or at the end of the question.

Another common and simple  way of asking the same  question would be:

- 'к а к         б у д е т (...) п о -ф р а н ц у з с к и (...) ?', which is exactly as above, except that 'б у д е т '='will be', so literarly it means 'How will  ... be in French ?'

So, how would you ask this question in French? I would assume it would be something like:

- 'Comment tu dis ... en Français'? or 'Comment tu vas dire ... en Francais?' or 'Comment on dit ...en Francais?' or anyhow else?

Thanks in advance.
