Jack_MikeJuly 2020 I am doing is the action that is being done at the time of speaking but i am going to do is used to decribe future. we can say that is for planned actions for future
![]() | AparksJune 2018 Think of "I am doing" as something that you are doing in the immediate - in the moment, like you are actively doing something right now. "What's up?" "I am doing laundry". Think of "I am going to do" as talking about doing something later on in the future. Use the 'going' as a way to remember this: "what's up" "I'm going to do some cleaning soon" |

CBennemeerJuly 2014 Yes, that is also right - "I am going to the doctor tomorrow". Unfortunately there are always exceptions to the rule. "I am teaching a class tomorrow" OR "I will be teaching a class tomorrow" OR "I am going to teach a class tomorrow". Someone might ask "Are you going to the doctor tomorrow?" to which you would reply "Yes, I am going to the doctor tomorrow."
berryblondJuly 2014 hi and thanks for your reply! If I say" I am going to the doctor tomorrow"-it's not right now. I talk about future. And is it possible to say "I am going to visit my doctor tomorrow". I don't understand the difference. or may be there is no difference?
CBennemeerJuly 2014 The first is called present continuous (it's happening now, and continuing), the second is called the future continuous (it will happen in the future and will continue until finished).
