AcasualdreamJanuary 2014 Site is used as a term for construction. It can be an area, building, or land. As an example "Ill meet you on site" would convey that I am meeting you at our construction site. Outside of the internet (websites) and construction you won't use or come across the term |
ZalmaranJanuary 2014 Site is not generally used when describing a physical location. For example if you are talking to a friend and asking them the name of a restaurant or club you have recently been to most Americans would say, "Hey what was the name of that place we went to the other night?". The only ways I can currently think of that "site" is actually used is when refering to a launch site for a rocket or something similar, and a shortened term for "website". I'm sure there are other uses of the word, but not many. |
AejrogotaJanuary 2014 Generally "place" is the common word to use, and works in most circumstances. "Site" is only used in specific circumstances. Other than website and launch site, which were mentioned already, "site" is usually only used when describing buildings. "The construction site", or "the site where the tower stood" are examples of when it would come into play.
