What is the right thing to say when I can't answer the question easily: I FOUND it very hard or I FIND it very hard?

You would say your first option (found) if you were talking about the specific task after it occurred e.g. you are talking to a friend after you took an exam with a difficult question.
You would say the (find) right at the moment of the difficulty but you would usually say why it is 'hard' e.g. I find it very hard to answer this question because I have not studied enough about this subject. You can also use the second option (find) if you are talking or explaining to someone that you have some difficulties in general e.g. I find it very hard to cope when a baby is screaming to concentrate on reading.
I hope you know what I mean

Thank you so much LotusflowerBlossom! I don't find it very hard now because you've explained it clearly. (Correct me if I'm wrong! haha. Thanks)
