AussieInBgMay 2021 I would suggest *NOT* using such a name. ”Box” might have certain sexual connotations presently in some English dialects. Toy has as well. Putting these two words together with ”a” makes ”toy” act as verb in the title. ”toy box” used to be commonly used in English to describe the box/carton where children put their toys and playthings. However it has almost fallen into disuse nowadays, I guess for the reasons I’ve described. |
AussieInBgMay 2021 I would probably avoid anything collocating ”toy” + ”box”. An American would probably miss an ”alternative meaning” but other dialects of English might not.
SetsukochanMay 2021 How about something like ”the toy chest”? ”A carton of fun” is a good suggestion -- and a nice pun: it definitely sounds less odd...
Caio_1998May 2021 Hello everyone
AussieInBgMay 2021 Pleasure!
Perhaps a name like ”A CarTON of FUN”?
It doesn’t have ”unfortunate” meanings in English and is a play (haha) on words
I wouldn’t know if it means something ”unintended” in Swedish though. My Swedish is limited to about 10 words.
leo_leo2May 2021 Thank you very much for your answer ! I’m very grateful.
vincentMay 2021 It is wise to check if there is any hidden meaning when choosing the name of a brand or a company in a country. I am also French, so I can’t tell you but some native English or Swedish speakers may find any hidden meaning. good luck ! |
exRangerMay 2021 Just call it ”The Toy Box.” BTW, there is nothing offensive about the term ”box”, sexual or otherwise... unless, like the (typical) Australian, this is how your brain is wired. |
