It is an idiom. The same general field, location, or group. ”Repairing tv’s and computers are in the same ball park.” It is a reference to them both being electronics.

Generally, in common usage, ”to be the same ballpark” means to be almost the same in terms of attributes or amount.

This is different from ”to be in the same ballpark”/"take it as a ballpark figure" (see the other thread).
