Mistake is mostly used like this: "I cheated on my test and I got caught. I made a mistake and now I have to pay the consequences".
And error is used like this: "I am trying to use this app but it is showing an error so I contacted the developer to have it fixed".
Error is mostly related to things but in some cases it is used related to human beings: "The airplane crashed and the black box proved it was a human error".
