The word Get means ¨to obtain something¨, it is a possessive but it can also be used in a lot of different ways. Here are some examples:

Get me a bottle of water, please.
Get back! That snake is dangerous!
Get in the car. / Get out of the car.
Get well. (When someone is sick, you tell them
Get on with your life (continue with your life)

To use it in Past Tense it would be: Got

    I got my passport today.
She got a nice present for her birthday.
