SSubhMay 2016 You know , 'were' is used in place of 'was' when we are saying something we only expect to do but they are not possible in reality. eg:-If I were the president of USA... Same here ,you are not actually participating in the competition but you are speaking your thoughts on what you would have done if you were participating for real . |
