Catholics are the first who meet a series of long holidays.

When catholics Christmas are already over, our New Year’s holidays are just beginning.

This year it lasts since the 29 of December until the 8 of January.

By the way, today is Christmas in my country - the 7 of January.

Towards Christmas people seem to tired of celebrations, so Christmas goes almost unnoticed.

It’s rather church holiday.

Then the Chinese enter the arena with their New Year which they celebrate even longer then we are - 15 days!

Chinese New Year also is the Spring Festival which means the end of winter and the beginning of spring even though it is still winter on a calendar.

Most of my country won’t feel spring even after it comes on a calendar.

But here in Kaliningrad we feel it more often, if I can say so.

After we were covered with snow (unfortunately to late for New Year) the wave of warm comes, it mercilessly drowns the snow and filling the air with it special smell and exposing the green grass.

Now it is really smells and looks like spring, but it won’t deceive us, we know that it will repeat not once before real spring comes to us.

But the days are already becomes longer, the air is so fresh, and the Chinese Spring Festival is so close - all these give a piece of hope.
