  • Ballet

  • Although I was very active as a child, I’ve never been a sports person, except for ballet.
    • I started ballet when I was three years old, I don’t remember exactly why, but I know for sure that I told my mother that I didn’t want to do any other sport, I just wanted to dance.
  • I immediately fell in love with this discipline and practised it enthusiastically for many years.
    • I certainly wasn’t good, I was never first of the class, but I didn’t care - I loved dancing.
  • Nevertheless, as I got older and started high school everything changed: school became more and more difficult every year, and so did training.
    • I simply couldn’t do both, I didn’t have time, ballet classes became a burden and my performance - both in school and in ballet - dropped.
    • I was too old to become a professional ballerina, I couldn’t drop out of school, so I had to stop doing ballet.
    • Leaving ballet was hard and sometimes I think what could have happened if I had continued.
  • I still like ballet and I enjoy watching performances when I can.
  • Not too long ago - maybe two or three weeks ago - a ballet company came to my city and performed a show that consisted of various pas de deux (the part of the ballet where the female and male principal dancers dance together) from the most famous ballets.
  • I decided to see this show and it was great: all the dancers were very young and talented.
    • I left the theater with a smile on my face, grateful to the 3-years old me who wanted to try ballet and to my mother who allowed me to do it.
