    • The Novel Epopee

    • Recently my friend and I have finished a book which we were reading more than a year.
    • It was the novel-epopee by James Clavell called Shogun.
    • It has about 1300 pages, quite a big book.
    • Besides, we didn’t read for long or every day, just time to time, once even forgot about it for months.
    • But we both kept in mind the book.
    • The book tells about English navigator who got into Japan and became a samurai.
    • Many characters, including Englishman had historical prototype.
    • There are so many interesting, unusual, sometimes shocking facts about Japan at that time.
    • For example, about seppuku or how little human life means or that many Japanese can’t swim, although live by the sea and so on.
    • I really learned a lot and imbued with respect to Japanese culture and worldview.
    • And like in book, if something happens I say ”It’s karma”.
    • Moreover, we decided to try sake.
    • But not just buy it, but cooked it.
    • So now we have a bottle where rice with koji tries to become sake...
