Traffic congestion is always a fundamental problem in most countries, especially in a huge bustling metropolis.
Moreover, the volume of traffic on the roads has increased dramatically in recent years.
And this subject would bring about air pollution and its associated problems, global warming, increasing greenhouse effect, and ozone layer depletion.
The governments should bring in policies for this serious problem.
In my opinion, increasing the price of petrol is not the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems.
There are several solutions to this problem.
The best solution for a poor traffic system provided with a well-organized public transportation system or sufficient public transportation.
On the other hand, a viable alternative for traffic jam and air pollution is riding a bike.
Encouraging more the dwellers to ride bicycles would be good for their health and it is an environment-friendly mode of transportation.
There are several ways to encourage citizens to use bicycles rather than other means of transportation, such as building cycle-ways, bike parking, and providing safe cycle training to ensure they have enough facilities.
For example, the inhabitants of my city have been deprived of cycle-friendly routes.
In conclusion, I think the government should not increase the price of petrol illogically and unreasonably.
It is necessary to pursue an effective solution.
It is heavily dependent on government policies.
