How to prepare for a hiking trip
- If you have enough time, it is beneficial to do some research about your hiking destination.

- Useful information may include information about the weather, conditions on the trail, steepness, water resources etc. It is also a good idea to take a paper map with you instead of just a navigation app in your mobile phone.
- If you have all the necessary information, it is time to choose your clothes and gear.
- The amount of things you can carry depends on how big backpack you want or are able to carry on your back.
- It is important that clothes you wear and pack are comfortable and fit you.
- Also hiking shoes or hiking boots must be comfortable and in a good condition.
- When you go alone or you go with someone to backcountry it is convenient to have some basic items, like a whistle, a flashlight, a pocket knife, a first aid kit, a compass etc. Water and food supplies are very important.
- It is advisable to have at least a liter of water in a bottle in your backpack, optimally two litres.
- There are variety of foods that you can prepare for your hike: you can take some cans, bread, sweetbars or dried fruits.
