The purpose of social work is to assist individuals, families, groups, and communities.
To help others adapt to changes in a social environment that is conducive to achieving goals, preventing social problems, enhancing or restoring the energy of their social functions, and creating an atmosphere that encourages health and well-being.
Knowing the magic of social work, I am deeply aware of the importance of this professional field.
Therefore, to better cater to the development of this demand and better exercise my professional skills, I think postgraduate study in the area will satisfy my intellectual curiosity and assist in my career goal.
My motivation for pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work stems from my undergraduate study in Economic Statistics and thrives in my related volunteer experiences.
Under the long-standing aegis of high-level education at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, I have been bathed in various related courses, such as Introduction to Modern Chinese History, Ideological and Modern Development, and Fundamentals of Law and Current Affairs and Policies.
I gained a thorough knowledge and understanding of the social work concepts and conducted in-depth research on them.
Moreover, when participating in volunteer activities as a member of a volunteer club, I used scientific methods to hold help service activities that made me realize the meaning of helping others and made me more interested in professional knowledge in this area.
Outstanding academic ability and practical work experience allowed me to understand theoretical knowledge better, have excellent academic performance, and obtain various scholarships, such as the University Outstanding Academic Scholarship (2017-2018).
To further understand the essence and development of social work, I started my internship as an editor and video producer in TikTok, responsible for independently editing the video and producing heated TikTok videos.
Furthermore, I actively maintained the popularity of several short-form video accounts and independently developed an account to reach the rapid growth of followers from 0 to 2 million within 2 months.
During that process, I learned the necessary knowledge in social work and the humanistic value and moral standards.
As for my future plan, I will try my best to learn social policy and management knowledge to solve personal and social problems.
I am also eager to learn how to combine social investigation and research methods to analyze these problems, thus deepening my understanding of theoretical knowledge.
Therefore, I hope to bring the advanced working framework and knowledge management techniques that I will learn from your program into real-life engagements to apply the knowledge to case social work and group social work practice.
I am confident that pursuing my future study at The Chinese University of Hong Kong will further my knowledge, including the combing theory and cases and the analysis from diverse perspectives.
Therefore, I sincerely hope that I can have an advanced study at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
I believe I will achieve excellent results in professional study in Master of Social Science in Social Work.
