  • My first book's review

    • Dorian Gray's picture was written in 1890 by Oscar Wilde,a controversial author who had been in jail before writing this book.
    • At that time homosexuality was considered a crime in some countries, like England, and Oscar Wilde was doomed for it.
    • Dorian Gray is a young guy who is influenced by Lord Henry and little by little become a mad man because he unintentionally sells his soul to the devil.
    • In that transition (SPOILER BEGINNING) he is responsible for Sybil Vane and Campbell's suicide and the killing of his friend,Basil. All that sins have destroyed his soul, represented in the portrait which was painted by Basil. At the end,he intents to destroy this picture and forget all his sins, rather, once he stabs it,he killed himself too.(SPOILER END) Lord Henry is the reason why this book was as polemic, due to his thoughts, ideas and a bunch of quotes.
    • Oscar Wilde's theme is mainly the duality of the human being, the fact that is more important the soul's beauty than the physical one.
    • In conclusion is a great classic book that survives more than a hundred years till our times.
