Boeing Faces First Order Cancellation
- Boeing Co. faces first 737 MAX order cancellation from PT Garuda Indonesia.
- Garuda claims that customers have lost faith in safety of MAX after two fetal crashes, while Boeing maintains the planes are safe but is about to change fight-control system investigators which involved in two accidents.
- Garuda has already deferred delivery of remaining 49 orders and spokesman said Boeing was planning to replace the MAX order with other larger planes.
- In the meanwhile, airlines using MAX face rising pressure and are rushing to adjust their schedules to find alternative aircrafts.
- Stopping the operating of MAX for several weeks may bring growing financial impact for airlines: On the one hand, cancelling orders means forgoing deposits, losing pre-paid payments; On the other hand, airlines have to continue paying for rents and can hardly switch the manufactures.
