Motivation Letter To: Admission department Chalmers university of Technology Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to apply for Masters Programs in Structural Engineering and Building Technology and also in infrastructure and Environmental.

I am very much interested in these programs.

The master’s degree from one of the most prestigious and respected universities is my chance to enrich my knowledge and professionally outgrowth thereby contribute to the development of the construction industry in my country.

Enabling construction to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

I am a Civil Engineer and previously working as a site Engineer for civil works supervision with the Telecom giant Huawei Technologies plc and currently working with a local Consulting firm for constructions.

I got my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the highest Technology institute in the country which is Addis Ababa Faculty of Technology.

Ethiopia is my native county.

My country is a very proud county, and also the only county in Africa which has never been colonialized by any foreign power during the colonization period.

And also ranked amongst one of the fast developing African countries in 2017 by IMF and World Bank.

Even though these positive changes it has a lot of problems.

Technology is not well integrated with the construction, infrastructures are not built considering environmental impacts and some other problems can be mentioned.

I know that Sweden is a country with a very advanced system of Building Technology and hosts an excellent infrastructure.

It matches or out performs that of another European country.

As a citizen of fast developing poor country I have a lots of goals and plans.

These goals are to upgrade the structural and building technology of the current statues of the country, applying international and standard engineering process starting from planning, design construction, operation, assessment and rehabilitation.

It is very important for me.

This is the main reason why I strive to take part in your educational establishment together with international students.

I aim to join the programs to fulfill the need for qualified competence that my native country needs very much, especially in the coming years.

From the very beginning of my professional carrier.

I am engaging in major projects which are very unique and very important in the development of the county in the construction sector.

My first project was with Huawei technologies which enabled citizens in remote areas to access calls and internet services.

I participated in the civil work supervision of Concrete foundations for the telecom towers.

This was one of the major projects carried out during that year in the country.

My second project was in a construction of Cement Factory, which was also another major project.

Currently I am supervising a Garment factory in the capital city of Ethiopia.

These projects allowed me evaluating the level and quality of Building Construction in my country and applying a new methods to old construction methods and consequently increasing quality and level of construction in many ways.

Studying in Chalmers University of Technology will allow me to become a qualified and competent technical specialist, gain knowledge and skill in the fields of Structural Engineering and building technology and also to all phases of the engineering process.

Which can be used for creating better and efficient ways of construction.

I have been working in many parts of Ethiopia for the past three years.

I have already completed two major projects and working on my third, from my experience I have understood that things change and new challenges require new ideas, knowledge and new way of technologies to overcome challenges.

After working with Huawei Technologies p.l.c, I ascertain that the experience, knowledge and desire of even one person with a strong desire to make difference can contribute a lot in the development of the country.

Moreover, taking part in The M.Sc in Structural and Building Technology is the perfect chance to develop both my personal and professional experience by interacting with top students and qualified Engineers of other nationalities, discovering new cultures and traditions.

Being multilingual which I am in English, French (B1), German (A2), Chinese (A2) and Amharic (the national language of Ethiopia).

I know how enriching it is to meet people from different parts of the world, sharing ideas and broadcasting our horizons beyond a single nation’s vision.

I am sure that the knowledge I shall receive in The M.Sc in Structural and Building Technology will be able to be applied in the future in order to help my native county to prosper in the near future, I could help people here in my native country to achieve their goal as well.
