    • Globalisation - good or bad news?

    • Globalisation…that would be one of the set of words that describes what has been occuring during the past few decades, welcome to the new socio-political era!
  • Unquestionably, we are all immersed in this phenomenon and we have come to first learn the meaning of this term in several ways: some when they could not afford competing against Walmart, some when they no longer needed a passport to fly within the Schengen area and some, like me, just at school when the time came to analyse the aftermath of this process so far.
    • So, how have we really been impacted by globalisation?
    • As for the majority of us, living in developed countries, globalisation played a role in outlining international trends.
  • Who hasn’t drunk a Starbucks coffee?
    • Let alone listening to some summer hits, played even times on both shores of the pond.
    • Moreover, never have we seen such freedom when travelling thanks to improvements in air politics and new modern technologies in border control lines at airports.
  • Furthermore, I am extremely content that thanks to globalization the use of English as the global language has allowed me to meet so many friends abroad, via new social networks.
  • Conversely, all that glitters is gold.
  • I am quite aware of the downsides that globalization has brought with it.
  • Sadly though, the media has largely contributed to only show the drawbacks of globalization driving a rise in political extremisms and anti-globalization movements, which aggressively damage even what they defend.
  • I am surely not the only one concerned about loss of cultural identity in third-world countries, event that happens each time English is overused in detritment of the local language; but there are better ways to fight back.
    • Although some consider that globalisation is the utter expression of social change so far, no forgone conclusions can be drown.
  • We can note obviate that the media has a lot of influence in this topic and as such, globalization must be a challenge to discriminate which pieces of information are worth paying-attention.
  • I am favourable o globalization and I enjoy doing my bit to promote it.
  • If only more people will do so too, we will progress into truly making a global village where discriminative cultural differences are set aside while pure cultural differences enrich all inhabitants of the yet-to-come promised land.
