  • Abstract

  • In this undergraduate thesis, the main goal was to verify the absence and the presence of images related to sexual diversity, female gender identity and sexuality contained in the collection of textbooks on the Portuguese Language “Portuguese: Language and Connection” from the publishing company LEYA, distributed by the National Program of Textbooks (PNLD) and by the National Program of High School Textbooks (PNLEM).
  • The inclusion of such themes is recommended not only by the mentioned programs, but also in the item “Sexual Orientation” present in the National Curriculum Standards (PCNs).
  • The analyzed sample is composed of three High School Textbooks on the Portuguese Language, approved by (MEC) as well as the Portuguese teachers from diverse public schools, and distributed among students.
  • It was developed a rereading of the meanings and consequences of presentation and/or omission of images that represent gender and sexual diversity.
