How technology affects communication
- In recent decades technology has made significant progress and affected many spheres o human life.
- Our social life was not an exception.
- Technology has brought mobile phones, instant messengers, social networks, etc into everyday use.
- In general modern people make more communications than those of preceding generation.
- Using computers and various gadgets with Internet access people can communicate whenever and wherever they want.
- Everyone can participate in a conversation with friends or a discussion with strangers right from their.
- With the help of social networks people make more connections with each other.
- But can one call social network friend a real friend? Not really.
- Most of those 'friends' are people we met once or worked with or just found attractive and decided to keep them close enough to be able to reach.
- You don't need to invite those people for a dinner, you can contact them only when you need something or rather when you are bored.
- Such a state of thing is not good or bad itself, though may have both positive and negative effect.
- Positive is that we don't have to remember or be afraid to loose contact details (phone number, address) or even names?
- Because we can always find the right person in the our phones contacts or social network's friend list.
- Another advantage is possibility of long-distance communication.
- When life has thrown you far from home, technology allows to keep in touch with family or old friends.
- Also you can use social media to find partners for your business or even employment or simply to advertise your goods and services.
- Disadvantage is that we shall be cautious and care about our privacy.
- We don't want some information we share with friends to be of use for wrong people.
- Sometimes being in touch may be a disadvantage as well.
- We don't want to be annoyed by multiple messages when we are busy, we don't want to be overloaded with unnecessary information.
- There is also a tendency to fall into dependency of social media.
- It may result in lack of concentration and productivity at work or studies.
- A person may neglect live communication preferring to chat via messenger or website.
- To sum it all, technology has made people's lives easier in many ways and sometimes even more rich and interesting.
- Nevertheless, there are some disadvantages caused by excessive or improper use of some technologies.
