  • Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the past thirty years that many cities in the world are now “one big traffic jam”.
  • How true do you think this statement is?
  • What measures can governments take to discourage people from using their cars?
    • Regarding the rapidly increase of car ownership during the last thirty years, many cities in the world are dealing with a serious traffic problem.
    • I am agree with this statement and i think that in few years there will be so many car ownerships that we will not able to use the car anymore.
    • Firstly, this issue is spreading in all countries and in all cities.
    • Few years ago only capital cities had this problem.
    • Now almost every city is dealing with this dilemma.
    • For instance, i live in a small city near Reggio Emilia and traffic during the day is usually, even in the quite hours.
    • Furthermore, I remember that when i was younger i went to school by car with my parents and i am sure that there was not the nowadays traffic.
  • Governments have to tackle this issue as soon as possible, promoting and encouraging people to use trains, buses and so on.
    • But, in most of the big city, underground, buses, tram and trains are expensive and people who lives in the city or close to it, prefer to use the car, instead going to work by bus.
    • One effective solution can be reduce the price of public transports, but in most cases transport organizations are not national.
    • Therefore, organizations, evidently, don’t want to lower their profits.
    • For instance, in Milano city, ATM is the transport organization and is a private company.
    • In conclusion, all cities are facing a big issue, which is the quick growth of the number of car ownership.
    • In my opinion, the only answer is to improve the public transport services and decrease the high prices.
