  • Snap decisions

  • In my opinion, snap judgements run counter to the bottom line we attempt to follow during our lives.
  • It reduces decisional process to listening brief feelings, or makes us take decisions that seem wise until we figure out why we couldn't apply them.
  • As an example, I remember the time I attempted to learn german because of my project to go studying architecture in Berlin.
  • Hence I started to spend many time in libraries, looking for contents that would help me improve that new language.
  • Then I studied until I could take out the main lines to know how to express myself and just have to get some new vocabulary step by step.
  • But the matter, despite how certain I was about my decision, was that I couldn't learn german enough to step from conversational level to fluency so fast, what I was supposed to do if I wanted to attend classes which are dispensed in german.
  • Therefor, after spending time, energy and much thinking to elaborate my study plan, I was stuck in a trap that a snap decision made up for me earlier.
  • That demonstrates, for my personal experience, how snap decisions could make me go far from the main point of what I plan to do in a while.
  • Anyway, I could have gone backwards because of the short time it took for me to figure out why it should have been difficult to go through the barrier of fluency speaking german, even though I could do not get it early enough and then I couldn't get back on my feet and follow the direction I made on reasoned decisions for myself.
  • However, there's still contexts within which snap decisions do work better than the reasoned ones, like when one is about to react quickly and spend too many time thinking, then the initial issue, despite his appearance as the right decision, gets confused by many factors brought inside the decision process.
