  • Solutions for Traffic Jams in Big Cities

  • It is believed by some people that building more roads in big cities can improve the situation with traffic jams.
  • Others point out that there are different solutions.
  • In this essay I am going to give reasons why building new roads in metropolitan areas is not a good idea and suggest alternatives.
  • One can argue that traffic jams have become a problem for overpopulated cities worldwide.
  • Some people think that governments have to build more roads which might improve the speed of the traffic during rush hours.
  • However, this is not the best solution because creating new roads causes more problems such as worse traffic jams.
  • There is no doubt that intense and slow movements in a metropolitan cities is caused by commuting, so moving work places from cities might be the best solution for the problem with traffic.
  • For instance, some people are able to work at home using their computer and/or telephone or office buildings could be built in the countryside and/or taxes for their owners could be reduced.
    • As a result, more people will have the ability to work outside of big cities, so it will decrease numbers of cars in cities.
    • In conclusion, there are problems with a heavy traffic in big cities as well as solutions for these problems.
    • I agree with opinion that building new roads in already existing cities is not a good solution and, I think, it is better to move work places outside of those cities by creating new offices in the countryside and subsidize them for better competition with cities.
