Please, can someone help me with this?
- Introduction The present astonishment report will talk about the master’s degree in facility management and my internship at “L’esplanade” in Louvain-la-Neuve.
- First of all, I will start with my choice for the master in facility management.
- I will explain how come I ended up at the HEPL.
- Afterwards, I will talk about my internship and my feelings about how was my situation as a trainee at “L’esplanade”.
- Then, a part of this report will focus on the formation and the organization of this master.
- Finally, I will talk about our trip to London.
- How come I choose this master’s degree?
- After being graduated in law, I wanted to pursue my studies because I didn’t want to work as a “legal assistant”.
- During my studies in law, I was working for a lawyer and I really hated this internship.
- At first, I was interested by the master in public management but it didn’t take place because of a lack of students.
- So when I came at the HEPL, Mrs Grandmoulin told me about the master in facility management.
- I had never heard about this master before but I wanted to try something new.
- I was also attracted by the fact that we will be paid that’s how I choose this master.
- PART 1: My Internship Once the master started, I was surprised by the organization within the HEPL.
- First of all, our formation required us to have an internship and for me it has been really difficult to find one.
- When I registered, they told me that they will help us to find an internship but as far as I am concerned, I didn’t receive this help.
- I found my internship six months after I started the master.
- During the time I didn’t have an internship, I was really stressed and I thought it would be better for me to find a job instead of pursuing this master.
- Eventually, I found an internship in Louvain-la-Neuve.
- I am working in a shopping centre with the facility manager.
- The beginning of my internship was really hard because I had to go there by train and since I am a trainee, my days are very long.
- As I am writing the report, I will have finished my internship in one month.
- These forty weeks spent in this shopping centre were really stressful.
- At first, I was happy to work in a shopping centre so I could go shopping while I am working.
- But as the times passes, I realized that the work of a facility manager in a shopping centre doesn’t suit me.
- The tasks that were assigned to me were too technical for me and as I was graduated in law, I wasn’t prepared for this kind of work.
- Moreover, I have not been welcomed as I would have thought.
- I felt like they didn’t want a trainee and I felt uncomfortable the first days.
- I was like side-lining and the projects that were given to me did not fit for a master trainee.
- But today, the situation has changed.
- I have many projects to work on but I still think that I am not meant to be a facility manager in a shopping centre.
- PART 2: THE MASTER IN FACILITY MANAGEMENT As I said, the thing that surprised me the most in this master was the organization and the coordinators of the master.
- First of all, the courses program isn’t adapted for a master.
- During this two years, we had a lot of courses which were totally the same.
- Furthermore, PART 3: OUR TRIP TO LONDON I really enjoyed our trip to London.
- I have never been to London so I have discovered a lot of things about the English culture.
- Also food in England is very different form our food.
- As a matter of fact, I really enjoyed English breakfast in the hotel however I am not used to eat as much in the morning.
- What I noticed in London is that people are always happy to help you, to give you pieces of advice.
- People are also very organized and especially in the metro.
- It is really different in Belgium because people just want to have a seat and don’t think about the others.
- … What surprised me in London is that English people are used to staying on the right to allow people who are in a hurry to go faster on the left!
- Another thing that really surprised me is that Londoners are the most polite people I have ever known!
- They are always the first to apologize themselves when they brush past you.
- You will always hear a “sorry” in the tube, in a store or in the street!
- London is a very beautiful city which offers a lot of things to visit.
- It is a multicultural city where it is not striking hearing other languages.
- What I like is that London gives us the opportunity to visit a lot of museums, a lot of parks and lots of monuments and I really enjoyed going shopping as much as I wanted.
