The story takes place in Germany on the eve of World War II .
Liesel is a young girl all just nine years.
His mother being communist, it must be separated because at that time this meant to be a Hitler enemy and therefore the nation.
While she is on the train which led to his future family welcomes his little brother dies tragically .
The boy and the mother left buried , Liesel is taken to its new home by a woman and a man.
But when the girl arrives at its destination , she refuses to leave the car .
