• Estepona is a popular tourist place, specially during summer, owing to Mediterranean climate and its beaches.

• Together with the tourism, home construction has been an important pillar for the local economy.

• Additionally , it also has a small and limited fishing and agriculture activity.

• Estepona was already inhabited during prehistory.

• Flint tools and dolmens has been discovered along the course of the stream Vaquero, west of the town.
