Text from vlarya - English

  • I shouldn't neglect my English skills

  • Hi!
    • My name is Zsuzsi and I'm from Budapest, Hungary.
  • I love learning languages, but I've been neglecting my English recently.
    • I can understand difficult texts without a problem, but when I post a comment on a forum, I become very unsure of myself and I google almost every collocation I'm about to use and then I end up not using them anyway and oversimplifying my post to make sure there are no grammar mistakes in it - but then I make the mistake of writing like a beginner.
    • Aside from collocations my main issues are English tenses.
  • In Hungarian, there are only three tenses (and we actually use only two of them).
    • I think I used to be able to tell the difference between them (between English tenses, that is), but nowadays I find myself checking my grammar books every time write a comment somewhere: hmmm, should I use present simple right now or should I be using present continuous?
    • I created my account on this site quite a while ago but I abandoned it soon after.
    • I asked a friend today whether she used other language learning sites than Duolingo and Memrise and she said yes, she used polyglotclub.
  • So here I am again!
