English-Dutch

Hi Alan here,I'm from Ireland,my native language is English and I also speak good German. I'd really like to learn some conversational Dutch. I know no Dutch currently,although due to it's similarity to German I do understand some.  If your willing to help me then I'l help you with English!

 

I may be going to the Dutch speaking part of Belgium.

Hi Alan,

I'm from the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, it's called Flanders. I could learn you some basic sentences. It's important to note that the Flemish speak a slightly different Dutch, with other words and expressions. The Dutch and the Flemish understand each other, but they both think that the other one has a funny way of talking.

Hahaha, that's so nice! I never heard that the Belgians thought that the Dutch speak funny

Maybe we should start a thread about the Vlaams/Nederlands differences, esp. the funny ones (like 'likstokje')
