Hello everyone! Welcome to South Kazakhstan (Turkestan) Region!

South Kazakhstan region is located within the eastern part of the Turan lowlands and western foothills of Tien Shan.

It is located in the southern part of the country. In 2019 the name of the Region was changed to Turkestan. Its capital is Turkestan.

Other cities in South Kazakhstan include Shymkent, Sayram, Kentau, Arys, Shardara, Jetisay, Saryagash and Lenger. Turkestan Region is about 117,300 square kilometers in area. South Kazakhstan borders the neighboring country of Uzbekistan, as well as three other Kazakhstan regions: Karagandy Region (to the north), Kyzylorda Region (to the west), and Zhambyl Region (to the east). The Syrdarya river passes through the region, on its way to the Aral Sea.
