## SYNOPSIS

In April 1976, the second trial of Pierre Goldman, a left-wing activist, begins. He had been previously sentenced to life imprisonment for four armed robberies, including one that resulted in the death of two pharmacists. He proclaims his innocence in this last case and quickly becomes an icon of the intellectual left. Georges Kiejman, a young lawyer, defends him. But their relationship soon becomes tense. Goldman, elusive and provocative, faces the risk of the death penalty, making the outcome of the trial uncertain.
FOR MORE INFORMATION...
After being convicted in the first trial for the robberies, including the murder of two pharmacists, Pierre Goldman became the center of attention during his second trial. This elusive and irreverent spirit, who constantly claimed his innocence, posed a challenge for the judge, the prosecution, the jury, and especially his lawyer Georges Kiejman.

### WHO WAS PIERRE GOLDMAN?

If the name Pierre Goldman sounds familiar, it's because he is related to the favorite personality of the French. The activist and gangster was, in fact, the older half-brother of the singer-songwriter with 30 million records sold, Jean-Jacques Goldman. The young actor Ulysse Dutilloy remarkably portrays Jean-Jacques Goldman in the film.
Born to resistance fighter parents and a former student at the Sorbonne, Pierre Goldman joined numerous left-wing student groups and unions during his youth. He also traveled to Latin America multiple times to join the ranks of the guerrilla movement in the late 1960s.
He later returned to Paris, despite being wanted for insubordination due to his failure to complete the mandatory three days of military service. In 1969, he committed several armed robberies, leading to his arrest.
Moonshaker
Pierre Goldman was also accused of the murder of two pharmacists on Boulevard Richard-Lenoir in the 21st arrondissement of Paris. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Assize Court of Paris in 1974.
During his incarceration, Pierre Goldman wrote an autobiography titled "Obscure Memories of a Polish Jew Born in France," which was published shortly before his second trial. The book served as both a testimony and a plea, and achieved popular and critical success with over 60,000 copies sold.
This book, in which he explains his origins, his parents' acts of resistance, and his own struggles, garnered sympathy from the public and the support of numerous French personalities, such as Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Simone Signoret.
