Join our language exchange event and meet over 250 language enthusiasts from more than 23 countries who gather weekly to practice new languages and make new friends while enjoying a refreshing beer.🍻

When you step into New To Melbourne, you'll immediately feel the warm and welcoming community atmosphere. Our group members are friendly, helpful, and always excited to welcome new participants. Bring a friend along and join us for some engaging language practice :-)

Our language exchange event takes place every Wednesday evening and is completely free. If you arrive at 6pm, you can also grab some affordable food and drinks if you're interested. It's a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while practicing languages.🍻🍟

What is a language exchange?

For those new to our group, a language exchange is an event where you can meet new friends and learn a new language while enjoying a drink. To truly understand how it works, it's best to experience it firsthand by attending one of our nights. It's much easier to participate than to explain.

Join us at 6pm for language practice sessions while groups are being formed.

===== EVENT FORMAT =====

Upon arrival, you will receive a badge that indicates your native language and the languages you are interested in learning. Place the badge on your chest, with your native language on the right and the languages you are learning on the left. Then, go ahead and meet new people and exchange languages!

What to bring: Pen and paper and a positive attitude!

We are actively seeking friendly volunteers who would like to assist and welcome newcomers to our group. As a volunteer, you will receive complimentary beer, drinks, and food (such as pizza wedges) and have the opportunity to interact with our friendly team of volunteers. Don't worry if it's your first time at the event, as many of our volunteers were once newcomers too. You're welcome to apply!

We prioritize creating a safe and welcoming environment for all our events, where people feel comfortable making new friends. To ensure the well-being of our group members, we have established several rules:

1. This is *not* a dating group, so please refrain from asking others for their contact information or social media accounts. If you wish to get in touch, please use the private chat on meetup.com.
