    • The author of the first extract argues that most buyers have little knowledge about what organic or genetically modified mean and they use these products to show off their status given that not everyone can afford the extra cost.
  • I personally believe that many companies are taking advantage of the rise of awareness about the risks of having unhealthy consumption habits and present their products as if these were healthier than those of their competitors.
  • Having had to lose weight myself, I am fully aware of the importance of keeping a heathy lifestyle.
  • Notwithstanding, I would not recommend these products to anyone.
  • In contrast, the author of the second extract defends the benefits of organic food as large-scale farming and the food industry add chemicals to the products and, as a result, we ingest substances, of which we do not know the side effects.
    • In my opinion, adding chemicals, which have been tested, is not harmful, rather, the other way around, as it has been demonstrated that the usage of certain chemicals not only do protect vegetables and animals, but also humans.
    • Having always lived in a city, I think that I would not have been able to eat fruits and meat, if there were no substances allowing to extend the shelf of life of most consumption products.
  • In conclusion, it can be argued that organic products are the result of marketing strategies based on the buyers’ need to keep track of their health.
  • Nonetheless, many people use these products to brag about their habits.
  • Moreover, chemicals have been used for many years and they are absolutely safe.
