Introduction
As a beginner in the Twi language, it is essential to start learning the basics of the language, such as personal pronouns, possessive pronouns, greetings, sentence structure, numbers, verbs, family and relationships, food, adjectives, transportation, proverbs, leisure activities, music, and dance. In this lesson, we will focus on Weather Vocabulary in the Twi language. The weather affects us every day, so it's important to know how to talk about it in Twi.
Weather Vocabulary
In this section, we will be discussing the words used to describe different weather conditions.
Twi | Pronunciation | English |
---|---|---|
ahwɛ | ah-hwere | sunny |
aseda | ah-say-dah | cloudy |
abɔdeɛ | ah-bor-day | windy |
apɔnkɔ | ah-pon-koh | rainy |
awɔ | ah-woh | hot |
anɔpa | ah-naw-pah | morning |
anoɔ | ah-noh-oh | afternoon |
anadwo | ah-nah-jwor | night |
It's important to note that the above translations are for general descriptions of the weather. In some instances, you may need to describe the weather more specifically. For example, instead of using the general term "rainy," you could use "heavy rain" or "light rain." You could also use "drizzling" to describe light, misty rain. Here are some additional weather-related words you can use to describe specific conditions:
Twi | Pronunciation | English |
---|---|---|
ahomaso | ah-ho-ma-soh | stormy |
ahu | ah-who | cold |
asuo | ah-swoh | water |
asaase | ah-saa-say | earth/ground |
adeɛ | ah-day | snow |
anan | ah-nahn | hail |
akwantuo | ah-kwan-twoh | humidity |
aburokyire | ah-boo-roh-chee-reh | dry season |
