An article is a word that modifies a noun by stating whether the noun is specific, unspecific, or partial.

There are 3 types of French articles:

  • Definite / Défini
  • Indefinite / Indéfini
  • Partitive / Partitif
Definite Indefinite Partitive
masculine le, l'/the un/a du, de l'/some/no article
feminine la, l'/the une/a de la, de l'/some/no article
plural les/the des/some/no article
