What are the differents ways to say "Yes" in Arabic ?

If you want to better understand and speak everyday Arabic, you need to learn other ways than "Oui".

نعم /Na3am/

yes

To say you agree in Arabic, you can simply say "Yes" or you may repeat the whole sentence:

  • هل تحب المثلجات؟ نعم/ نعم ,احب المثلجات. = Do you like icecream? yes/ yes, I like icecream .

ايوى (ايوا) /Aywa/

yep ( in Egyptian and some country in Midel East )

ايوى /Aywa/  is the informal way of saying "yes" in Arabic.

You'll hear this a lot in casual conversations:

  • بتسكن في قاهرة ؟ ايوى , اعيش هنا .= Do you live in Ciaro ? Yep, I live here.

اجل /Ajal/

alright

“اجل” is the Arabic equivalent of “alright. It use in very short answer :

  • هل ستأتي معنا ؟ اجل . = Are you coming with us? Alright.

تمام /Tamam/

alright /OK ( in Syria, Lebanon and the environs )

"Ok" has the same meaning as "تمام" but a little less formal.

  • افتح هديتك . تمام . = Open your gift . Ok

طبعا /

Sure
