Whether you plan on taking a bus, train, or taxi, this lesson will help you understand the words you need to know.

Buses

Buses are a common mode of transportation in Lithuania, especially for longer distances between cities. Here are some useful Lithuanian words related to buses:

  • Stow your luggage in the provided overhead storage or under your seat.
  • When nearing your destination, listen for the announcement or ask a fellow passenger to avoid missing your stop.

Taxis

Taxis are a convenient mode of transportation for shorter distances or when public transport is not available. Taxis in Lithuania are generally safe, convenient and reasonably priced. Here are some useful Lithuanian words related to taxis:

  • Make sure the taxi has a meter installed, and the driver turns it on.
  • Before getting into the taxi, agree on the price, especially for rides to or from the airport.
  • If you have an address in Lithuanian and need to show it to the driver, have it written down or available on a map application.
